Andhra Pradesh High Court today issued notices to the state government and Junior Doctors Association after taking up a petition seeking a direction to the association to call off their strike.

A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed in the High Court termed the junior doctor's agitation 'illegal.' The court had also issued notices to the Medical Council and Medical Education Department, and adjourned the case to tomorrow.

The state government counsel told the court the medical education department had been reviewing the stipend of junior doctors every six months as per the 2009 agreement between the government and the junior doctors.

The court directed the state government to file an affidavit giving complete details.
